Self managed hosting gives you great value with great control. With your own VPS you decide what to install and are completely free to configure any software as long as it follows the terms of service. Self managed hosting uses the 'fair share' CPU methodology. Fair share CPU access is exactly what it sounds like: you have a fair amount of access to the CPU just as other users that are on the same node as you do.
